Hi,

I'm new to Avaya IP Office (training course in the pipeline). Assuming we have an IP 412 running 4.1 software, can you upgrade directly to 6.1? Or would you have to upgrade 4.1 to 4.2, then 4.2 to 5.0, then 5.0 to 6.0, then 6.0 to 6.1? What licensing would you require for the upgrade?

I don't know whether the site uses serial dongle on back of control unit, or parallel or USB dongle on the back of a PC running the feature key license. What are the implications of upgrading to 6.1 on the feature key license/licensing?

Or do you recommend replace the control unit for an IP500 with 6.1 software? What are the implications of doing this, in terms of hardware and licensing?

Just looking for good advice please on a high level, considering 4.1 (in this example) is not supported by Avaya. Thanks in anticipation.

IP Office Release 6.1 is supported on IP406v2, IP412, IP500 and IP500v2 systems.

Advice: go to release 5.xx

Yes an ip412 can go to 6.1 in one go.
From 6.0 and up you need a license for it to have working phones.
USB and parralel dongles are no longer supported o i would forget those.
The serial dongle is end of sale too so if you want to have latest then you better go for a new ip500v2.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!
