We're trying to do software and hardware inventory at our school. My friend and I have to help with this as it is part of our "tech support" class in school. This is very boring so naturally, we are searching for a better way to do it.

We decided to make a program to get the software on the computer and the bvtag (that computers id) and where it was in the school and put it in a database on the network. We do not know how to figure out where in the school the computer is.

Is there better way to do this? Or, is there some way to find out what network plug the computer is on or any other way to find out where it is physically located. The main idea now is to take the default printer name as that would kinda tell us, but if the computer is moved or a printer is not installed, we would be screwed.

Pls Help.
