I'm having intermittent problems and I just can't find the culprit. Some days it's all plain sailing, other days I spend hours closing down and restarting trying to get my programs to function. I get invalid page faults in a number of programs - there seems to be no rhyme or reason - even Notepad failed on me one day. The most common program to fail is Eudora, but Netscape and Internet Explorer have also shut down but for both of these programs I could not get a read out of the actual fault.

Generally, the details are like this:
EUDORA caused an invalid page fault in
module MFC42.DLL at 0167:5f401351.
Registers:
EAX=00000000 CS=0167 EIP=5f401351 EFLGS=00010246
EBX=5f4d0008 SS=016f ESP=02d3faa4 EBP=02d3fad8
ECX=00000000 DS=016f ESI=00aba6a0 FS=4897
EDX=00000003 ES=016f EDI=0078022c GS=4056

In every case except one, the location has been 0167: though the module and program has varied. Is this likely to be a memory fault? or what? I'm still at a loss as to whether I'm looking at a software or a hardware problem. I've done everything I can think of to check my system out, latest virus definitions, full disk scan, regclean, directX checker, system file checker.

What should I do next?

Memory would be my guess, if it’s mostly the same location 0167: I would say try memory from some other source, or new memory.

Also try using one stick at a time, that might tell you witch stick is at fault.. "More Than Merely Names"
