We're getting away from Extreme products as they die. I'm considering either Cisco or re-deploying our HP switches (there's a cost either way).
The Extreme Summit48's connect to a Black Diamond via dual fiber connections with SX-type GBICs. The Cisco that I'm looking at is the C2950G-48, which has 2 GBIC slots which look a lot like the Extreme. The GBICs themselves actually have an IBM part number 21H9878.
The question is, can the Cisco and Extreme switches interoperate? I would think that with SX-SX they could.
