I have recently purchased a new computer and am having problems with my internet. After a few minutes all pages are returned as "cannot find server". Now I know this is not a problem with my connection as I have two other machines using the same connection and they are both fine, which leads me to believe it may be a setting within xp. Has anyone had this problem and if so please can they tell me how I go about resolving it - if I disconnect and then reconnect again, I can again view the pages for a few minutes before having the error returned (I am using dial up).

Many thanks

Any chance the TCP/IP settings aren't there?
I had a system that (for whatever reason) had none of the settings correct.

Start>
Control Panel>
Network Connections>
Right Click whatever "Connection" your using>
Click Properties>
Click (highlight) Internet Protocol [TCP/IP]>
Click the Properties Button>

Both "Obtain IP Automatically and Obtain NDS Server Address"
should be selected.

Good Luck,
