Hi

There will actually be a question furthur down , in the meantime heres the story

just thought I;d help my sister get a better deal out of a UK ISP... signed her up to freeserve anytime and eventually D/L an .ins file to install the phone nuymber / mail servers etc...

98 box produces a message saying "cannot load inetcfg.dll" as soon as it tries to update the settings using the aforementioned .ins file

I use the SFC to extract the fiel from the CD ...now it cant run cos inet95cfg.dll is missing or stuffed up ....

I had a quick skim over at suppor.monysoft.com seems to say run inetwiz.exe and that'l sort it all out....

nope that won't run either gives the same inet95.dll error as before...

So what I do next is ...re-install Dial Up networking and the Dial up Adapter.. still no joy.. I've reset the security setinggs in IE6 done a scandisk and
uninstalled a whole bunch of "connection Kits" and "Diallers" that hasve miraculously appeared in ADD/Remove Progs

I've also pulled out a few "adbots" and the more obvious bits of spy ware

The damn machine connects to the internet ok and all works fine It'd just be nice if I could easily setup the new ISP settings by clicking on "open file yadayaya"

I've also let SFC do its full check and that was OK

I guess my question goes like this .. If've SFC'd and re-installed DUN and the dial p adapter..what else can I re-load without doing the whole OS all over again?

any other ideas or suggestions are welcome

The name of the ISP would indicate that it is a Free service. She may be better off using a Paid service and spending a few quid to get a bit of service.Do I take it that you cannott get help from the ISP? have you tried installing manually without the software sent by the ISP. Just click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Options and follow the prompts. You can always load a browser from a magazine disc if you don't have one.Good Luck..........Dave
