Internet Explorer not showing animated GOFs

I've started to get a wierd problem on some web pages I've setup. Non of my animated GIF files are animated. If the same page is openned on someone elses PC, they're animated like they should be.

And, of course, I can't remember any pages that aren't mine that have animation on them to see if they're working or not.

I've checked my IE settings (Tools, Internet Options, Advanced), and the "Play Animation in Web Pages" is checked. I haven't tried installing an older version of Windows because I swear this was all working a month ago. I just noticed this problem in the last two weeks - nothing special installed or updated in that time.

Does anyone know what/where I can do/check to get this working again? It's kind of hard to test web pages when the stupid thing is being so persnikety!

A quick glance at some google sites suggested that a recent cumulative patch for ie might cause a problem. You can wade through them if you like.
