This is weird, it happened overnight. I was using the internet and everything seemd fine except that now it will not allow me to download graphs or pictures, instead on the web page it will display X instead of the picture.

I tried to look under tools, internet options but nothing...

Right click on the IE icon on the desktop, select properties, select the advanced tab,
check if the boxes are checked under multimedia, for images. Are you runiing a firewall?

Mr. Fixit:
Yes i've done everything posssible. Nothing worked.
I even was able to get a copy of IE 5.5 and re-installed it. Still not working... Any thoughts ???
Thank you.

What program is currently used to view jpg and other images? That could be the problem.

MrFixit:
Thank you for responding.

I use Microsoft Photo Editor 3.0.2.3
It is working fine.

Thank you.

PS: The registry are also addressing to MS Photo editor as well.

MrFixit:
to add to the problem sometimes when displaying a web site i get internet explorer done but with errors on page.
ie: Line: 32

let's try this go to START, Control Panel, ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE, Double click on internet explorer, it should ask you if you want to repair or add components, select repair.

Mr Fixit:
I tried everything, still doesn't work.
I uninstalled Office XP then re-installed, nothing.
I uninstalled IE (repair...) and re-installed it nothing...
I even re-installed WinMe and nothing.
I think my last option is to reformat HD and re-installed everything from scratch.
Sometimes It will be best to do it that way, it relieves a lot of stress....
Thanks for your help though ;)

1.Click Start, point to Settings, and then Control Panel.
2.Double-click Internet Options.
3.On the General tab, click Accessibility.
4.Click to clear the Ignore colors specified on Web pages check box.
5.Click OK, and then OK.

2. this is for IE 6 take a look

3. Certain web sites IE defaulted to Western European (iso) after changing to
Western European (Windows) it would load correctly. but you have to check it every time I visit the site... try it out.

4. The Red X is sometimes caused by loss of Java support. I suggest
downloading the "virtual machine" from and install it.

I have given you a lot of things to look at. Also getright can casue this problem if you have it installed. Norton firewall if show pictures is unchecked or any other firewall.

For the IE line 32 error this link will tell you how to fix it.

Mr fixit:
I think you have done more than enough.
I think the problem is with JAVA.
I am trying to download but every time I try to download I get a URLMON.DLL error, no matter what I try to download.
Obviously I have a corrupted library and need to be fixed.
Thanks anyways.... :)

For your URLMON.DLL try this START, RUN< in the box type regsvr32 urlmon.dll.
RIGHT CLICK the IE icon on the desktop and delete all COOKIES, and INTERNET FILES.
Then go to windows explorer and go to the Winodws directory and make sure all of the cookies are gone and then to the Temp internet files make sure they are all gone.
Then run disk clean from system information tab. You may have SPYWARE you need to delete if you download ADWARE6 at it should do it for you.

Mr Fixit:
No I am not using firewall.
I tried all your suggestion but without any luck.
I just gave up and think to reformat my hard drive and reload windows and all the programs.
Over the years I've learn that when a problem does not get resolved in the first few hours, it is best to reformat the hard drive and relaod Windows...
It relieves a lot of stress and tale less time than scratching your head to find out how to solve the problem.
Thank you.

you may be right. I don't like have to do that. I had a problem like that with my system and I just let it go for awhile. I got all my OS updateds and java updates.
If final went away. GOOD LUCK!!

I am using Win me with IE6.Problem is when I open Hotmail.com hotmail is asking password on every step to open hotmail account. I had tried to save default setting but problem is there. I know this is machine specific problem because same account is open on another machine perfectly. One more important thing I am browing other site perfectly. I can download anything but hotmail account is asking password on every stage.
Can any know how to resolve this problem.
