Internet Explorer caused error in CMI8330?

I just installed a usb host adaptor and usb broadband modem onto a Cyrix MII 333 machine. Now when I try opening a webpage the homepage loads ok, but the moment I try to access another site, or page on the same site an error report reads "Internet Explorer caused a conflict in CMI8330" then another message comes up saying "GDIHELP.exe error" or "GDI.exe error".

The computer has onboard sound and I installed the drivers for it after installing WinME a few weeks ago. If I turn onboard sound off in BIOS the errors don't occur. And last point - before installing the USB card and modem , the sound worked fine and these errors didn't occur. How can solve this problem?

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, contact the manufacturer of your sound card or modem to inquire about the availability of an updated driver for your sound card or modem.

NOTE: If you are unable to contact the manufacturer of your sound card, you can try to use the C-Media Windows 98 sound card driver version 4.10.00.0152 or later. This driver is available on the following C-Media Web site:

To work around this issue if you are unable to obtain an updated driver for your sound card:
Restart your computer in Safe mode. In Windows 98, restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key until you see the Windows 98 Startup menu, and then choose Safe Mode.

In Windows 95, restart your computer, press the F8 key when you see the "Starting Windows 95" message, and then choose Safe Mode.
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
Click the Device Manager tab.
Double-click the Sound, Video And Game Controllers branch to expand it.
Click your sound card, and then click Properties.
On the Drivers tab, click Driver File Details. Check to see that you are using the Cm8330sb.drv driver.
On the General tab, click to select the Disable In This Hardware Profile check box.
Click OK, and then click Close.
Restart your computer normally.

SESaskDFC, thanks for the reply. The microsoft site was the first place I visited before posting. I downloaded the latest drivers from the C-media site when I installed the soundcard but unfortuantely the problem persisted and so I decided to post here - my fault for not mentioning it before. Do you know if there's anything else it could be as I've already tried the Microsoft approach?

Try moving the USB card to a different PCI slot !!

I tried moving the card but I still get the error message. Any other ideas?
