why is it when I delete the history of all the web pages I have traveled to - they look 'deleted' - I then close out IE6 - come back in later- all the of history magically reappears.

I use the IE 6 method 'tools' 'internet options' 'clear history'

Have you tried deleting your cookies and your temporary internet files through options! Also sometimes the prefetch folder collects junk which i clean out once a week it keeps temporary information to boot apps faster!

Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder and reboot.
(or log on as another user that has Administrator privileges)
Example: "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"

The prefetch folder does not contain IE History information.

There is a nice little shareware program that you can try for free that will clear it out nicely for you. It is called Clear IE history.

Thanks Bcastner I did not know that. Once I booted on a computer and it had some temporary files from the internet but i think it was from spyware loading so I assumed that IE files were sent to the prefetch!
