Hi, quick question for anyone who's listening. I had 2 Win98 PC's networked and was using ICS so they could both use the net via the one phone line. I've upgraded one of the PC's ro Win2K Pro. Is there an equivalent version of ICS for Win2K or something that will do a similar job?

Thanks

Sorry, I should also add that the Win98 PC is the one that has the intenet connection, so the Win2K machine needs to be able to share that connection.

Win2k has an excellent ICS system. Much easier to setup than Win98. I would recommend if possible that you put the 2nd network card in the Win2k machine and make it the ICS machine. If you can't do that for whatever reason, then your existing Win98 ICS should work fine with your Win2k machine. Nothing is needed on the Win2K machine to share the internet connection if you have the Win98 ICS configured properly.

I second that make the 2kP machine the server
just go into propities of dialup connection and enable ICS, the w2kp mackine will become a mini DHCP but static ip's work as well, if using a static ip on win98 machine then make its gateway and pri DNS '192.168.0.1 the ip of the 2kp machine' or just running the 98client disk on the 2k box will work 2

Just in case anyone else is trying to do this. I've managed to get it working. I've hard coded the ISP's DNS address into the IP stack and all works fine.

Thanks

Hi,

I am trying to exactly this but am confused over "I've hard coded the ISP's DNS address into the IP stack". I have a cable connection on win98 and want to allow a win2k machine to share. Please can someone clarify how to do this fix?

Thanks in advance
