I have two Win2K PCs networked. They both have a modem and I want which ever computer that has dialled up to share the connection with the other.

I've enabled internet connection sharing on each machine but then I get errors something to do with IP addresses. I know I have to setup something to do with each computer choosing an IP address but don't know much about it.

Can some one explain in step by step simple terms???

Many thanks

Well I think my network is peer to peer. So my the server I assume you mean the machine with the actual dial-up connection?

However, the machine that actually does the dialling up could be either?

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

You could use ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) for your internet needs.

Go into your internet connection properties by right clicking the appropriate connection and choosing properties.

Then click the Sharing tab. There should be A check box there that says "enable internet connection sharing for this connection" check it

Below is A link to further guide you :)

When you enable the internet connection sharing windows asigns the ip address of 192.168.0.1. Since you have two machines on the network, both with ICS enabled you probably are getting an IP address conflict since two computers on one network cannot have the same IP address. You can manualy change the IP address on one computer to see if this helps
