How do you configure the server and the clients for to share an internet connection using Windows 2000?

What is your configuration of the server at the moment? is it running DHCP, if it isnt you can just use ICS, by making a new network/dailup connection then sharing it. But if your running a DHCP, ICS and DHCP will conflict with each other.

if your not using dhcp.

1. Enable ics on the nic that u need to share.
2. Set the gateway adress for tcpip on the clients to the ip of your server.
3. Set the clients to recieve the ip automatically.
4. Set the dns to the isp of your current provider for best results.
5 . boom ure done.

If you are using DHCP

1. Confgure the range
2. Confugre the dhcp settings according to your applicable net settings.
3. Enable the dhcp
4. Tel to tcpip to use dhcp or ip automatically.
5. if you are using internal adressing then there is no more to do.

.Best method.

1. Use a firewall - unix or hardware based.
The sonicwall serious works nicely and isnt too expensive.
2. with this option, u can use the dhcp of the firewall or let the server perform dhcp.
3. same goes for dns.

have phun tho. Its nice to get something to work. It makes one feel good.

go to the connection right click it, go to properties, and check the box "Share this connection". A+, MCP, CCNA Certified.

Keep fighting for your knowledge!
