Hello,
I've been having a strange problem for a long time. Here is the situation:
We have a remote office at one location and a central office at another location. Our remote office is connected to the Internet via a Zoom X4 ADSL modem (with static IP). Before the DSL modem, there is a Checkpoint VPN Edge-1 to make the communication between our remote office and the central office secure. Zoom ADSL modem is configured in "1483 Bridged IP LLC" mode which means that it is transparent and the VPN Edge gets the static IP.
Here is my problem: sometimes, the Internet connection goes down. When I check the status in the web interface of the VPN Edge, I see that the WAN connection is gone and shows that "trying to establish connection". the connection cannot be established even if we wait a long time. The only solution (at least the one that I've found so far) is to shut down the modem and power it on again.
This problem exists for a long time. I have tried many things: We called the ISP and they made some tests over the phone line. All results are fine. Every time this problem occurs, I check the modem temparature and it is not over heating. Everything looks good. Actually, the connection sometimes lasts more than a week but sometimes it goes down twice, three or many times a day. I cannot figure out the problem.
Any ideas?
