I have just Installed a re-build Computer for a friend, using Windows XP Pro, I logged on to the Internet using my account (Dial UP) so I could set up a new account for them.
After setting acount I removed my account, everything works fine, BUT , the icon at the bottom RH corner of the screen, the 2 computers is not displayed and could be left running by mistake, as this just a Pay as you go connection, could be a costly mistake.
How can I get this ICON to appear on connection, I was thinking of removing the account and installing manually.
Any help would be grateful
Regards John.m

To show the network connection icons, open My Network Places, View Network Connections, right click on your internet connection, Properties, select the box for 'Show icon in notification area.....'

Also on the ISP Properties page under Options, you can set the amount of Idle time before an automatic hang up.

Lists the available time periods to wait before a connection hangs up.

The remote access server also has a disconnect timer, which may override the time-out number set here and disconnect you. If this option is set to a high time-out number, there is no guarantee that the connection will not disconnect before the time passes.
