Just wondering if anyone knows a workaround to enable/disable Internal Twinning from a remote phone. I have a customer that has Remote E129 SIP phones for employees to use at home.

If they have Voicemail Pro, then something can be done through customised callflows. Generic actions can be used to turn mobile twinning on/off and to change the twinning number. You just need to work out how a remote caller will get to that call flow - and to ensure a good level of security to stop just anybody from using the feature.

The other option is using the mobile call control feature codes (FNEs) so that the remote user can call in and use local short codes to switch their twinning on/off.

Of course the simplest option is to have the office extension as your default extension, the remote extension registered with the IP Office with no default user - and then just use *35 to login on the remote extension when that's where I am. When its
a user using two desk phones in separate locations that's the easiest.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

No Shortcode for internal twinning but like Sizbut says, use hot desking...

You could use mobile twinning and use the shortcode for that.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

...slowly banging head on table for not spotting 'internal twinning'. duh...

The Voicemail Pro callflow options don't apply to Internal Twinning and setting up mobile call control in order to control internal twinning would seem perverse.

However, final answer still applies. Just have the user login at whichever phone they are currently in front of and it will automatically log them out any other.

Mobile Twinning to internal numbers is not supported and whilst it sometimes works it has some major issues, I've had people try to use it to get internal twinning over SCN, close but the issues are not worth it.
And it obviously lacks the nice behaviours of internal twinning (single mailbox, call logs, etc, not all applicable for phones like the E129)

Can you elaborate more on mobile twinning to internal numbers not working?
I don't have any issues.

I can't really remember the details, it was a good few years ago. It mostly worked, but there were a couple of scenarios where the call wasn't placed or no speechpath or something, possibly even DECT specific - response from Avaya Tier4 was not supported, and to be fair the name and the docs imply pretty heavily that it's external only, though I don't think I've seen a direct "not internal" statement. Who knows, in the current releases it may be OK.

If you are operating in the area where it's doing what you need - happy days :), just be aware that there are (well, were) some cases (and I think it was DECT & SCN related) where it doesn't.
