Internal-only accounts won't resolve after migration

We just migrated from Exchange 5.5 to 2003, along with moving to a new Server 2003 mail server, installing OWA, etc. All seemed to go well, except for those accounts which had only internal e-mail under 5.5. The accounts came over, but they will not resolve when trying to install their accounts on individual workstations. I added an external e-mail address to each account, but it seems to have made no difference. They are also missing the Exchange Features tab on their account under Active Directory.

What have I missed? I had a good working knowledge of 5.5, but 2003 is new to me (we have no internal IT department -- I will call back our outside tech support company if need be...). Thanks!

Sounds like they haven't been stamped by the RUS, if you manually add an SMTP address before the RUS has stamped the new mailboxes, then they'll never work properly. To try again right click the accounts in Active Directory Users and Computers (start with a test account), Exchange Tasks remove Exchange attributes and then right click the account again to create a mailbox, Exchange Tasks/Create Mailbox. Allow the RUS to run (will depend on your AD topology).

Oh, if there's a bunch of MSExchangeAL errors on the Exchange server, try installing the latest service pack.
