Hi Everyone!

A customer of mine has been given a Cisco 803 ISDN Router and I've been given the task of the setting the thing up. Can anybody point me in the right direction please? What is the default IP Address on the LAN side of the router? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I have never known a Cisco router to have an default address like you might see on a LinkSys. You need to connect to the console port with the cable and connector supplied and assign the ip address manually. You will be configuring "ethernet 0"..

hi. i have an 806 router which has an internal ip network of 10.10.10.0.

you can console in and find out the internal network.

Thank you Chaps. I have managed to locate the IP Address on the router. Sorry, that was a bit misleading saying 'default'. This is a second hand router and has had an IP assigned already. I managed to track down the IP using tcpdump on Redhat7.3 Now I have the IP I can obviously ping it on the network but I can't set it up as there is a username and password already associated with it. Next Question, is there any way I can do a hard reset on the router?

If you go to and do a search on "password recovery Cisco 803 there is a pdf document that will walk you thru the process. Basically you are going to interupt the normal boot process and modify the config-register setting on the router so that you can recover the router and change the password. If you can't get the pdf let me know and I will get and email it to you.

Thanks crazynoodle! I tried this and I can't get the break sequence to work. The prompt also should be "Boot#" if I'm not mistaken. I get this

Is the software on this router not fully IOS compliant. I also can't seem to access the web page giving other 'possible key combinations for break sequence during password recovery'. I'm stuck! Thanks for your help so far, much appreciated!
