Hi;
We are using an Intermec 3440 to print bar code labebles from a Foxprow 2.6 a. it was easy when we use MS-DOS. Now, we are going to upgrade to window 2000. How can I make Intemec 3440 work with window 2000? Thanks.

If you define this printer with the Generic / Text Only printer driver under Win2k, then it should work the same way it did in DOS.

Rick;
If I defien it as generic/text only under win2000, will it prodcue bar code? Please instruct me how to define it in win2000! I am not a computer pragrammer. Thanks.

Under Windows there are usually three pieces to defining a 'printer':
a) The name - e.g. Intermec 3440
b) The physical port (how it's connected to your system) - e.g. LPT1, COM2, file
c) The printer driver - Generic / Text Only

You can define multiple logical printers that share the same physical port - the name will be different, and usually you'll use a different printer driver (e.g. there may be a Windows - graphic, rather than character - printer driver for the Intermec 3440).

You can also just change the default configuration options for the same printer driver (e.g. One that's start in Portrait mode, and the other in Lanscape mode).

None of this has anything to do with 'programming' - just Windows setup and configuration. Note: While I've used, NT, and am now running XP Pro, I've never used 2000, but it's likely to be virtually the same.

Thank you. I will try it and let you know if works.
