I have an interesting networking problem. I had a Windows 98 machine that had a cable modem. The modem was connected directly to the USB port and was working fine. I recently got another computer and wanted to network them together. I got a router and ran the cables to the new PC. I had to put a NIC in the inital PC to connect it to the router. The problem is that now I can't get to the internet. Every time I try to do something that connects to the internet, I get an Illegal Exception error. I tried taking out the NIC and putting the USB back in, but the computer won't connect to the network any more. The second computer connect fine without a problem, so I believe it's isolated to the initial computer. Any ideas?

Hi
Did you uninstall the USB Cable Modem drivers first before connecting to WAN using the Router?

You know, didn't think of that for some reason... I'll give it a shot and let you know.. Thanks for the post...
