It's a good start. BrowserHijackBlaster has been supplanted SpywareGuard, which I haven't tried yet so I can't comment on how well it deals with some of the really stubborn stuff I'm currently using HiJack-This on.
The main good thing about articles like these is that the issue is getting increasing press. Personally I see some of these hijacks and other types of spyware issues as being a larger problem than viruses.
