Ok, trying to setup a way for our receptionist to be able to shout at people sitting at their desks who refuse to answer their phones (in a nut shell). I was going the route of using Intercom-Groups with one group per department, phones set to auto-answer icom and the receptionist being a member of all groups. The only problem is she is on an attendant-station, and the intercom group yells at me when I try to add her extension (Extension assigned but wrong type for the group)

Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

razillian,

i suggest using paging groups for every department. this way the receptionist shouldn't be part of the group, he/she may just dial the group's extension and start shouting. :) you can set up paging groups using 'add group-page' command, nothing else. just add the group, fill it with members and use it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Two questions though. 1) Does a group-page goto all the phones in the group at once, or can it be individually? 2) Can the phones being paged respond back, or is it one way communication?

razillian,

1. yes, paging goes to all phones in the group at once. if you want to page an individual phone you can use 'whisper page' feature.
2. this is one way communication but when the phone is paged it displays the originator's phone so the paged user can call back if he want.
