Hi -

Environment: CE10 SP1, all Hotfixes, Win2k

Is it possible that the PARENTID of an instance is again an instance?
Exactly this is the case in my system and I thought this shouldn't be possible since only a scheduled report can create an instances of it.

I'm using this query

Code:
Select SI_ID, SI_PARENTID, SI_NAME From CI_INFOOBJECTS

to check for this circumstance. As a result you can verify the relationship of the instance by looking at the IDs...

Can anybody explain this phenomen?

Not certain what you mean, if the hierarchial relationship seems incorrect, perhaps it's related to a shortcut.

I think Instance of a Instance only applies to Program objects(?) - As stated above, a shortcut might give "strange" results.

Add SI_INSTANCE to your query (1=True, 0=False).

Well - I found out something interesting.
But first it is not a shortcut for sure. The "hierarchial" relationship is just like I said - an instance owns an instance. Which shouldn't be this way. And also none of the instances are Program objects.
The thing I found out is that both instances don't really exist anymore. I checked these two specific instances by using the Instance Manager from the Launchpad. Both have a failure status flag and both its source pathes don't exist anymore. Therefore the CMS also states that these two specific instance files are not found on the File Repository Server.

So I think it might be a bug here but I just can't figure out right now how this had happened...

Sounds like a scheduled report that failed (which would be owned by an instance).
