I've got a HP NAS box with no cd/floppy drivethat I want to try running linux on. I've got a USB DVD drive but this won't boot either my original Mandrake cds, Slackware DVD or Knoppix cd. Is there a way to install over the network with a network boot?

It's going to need to be told in the BIOS/NIC to bootp from another device that has some supported floppy-like install launcher on it. I haven't the slightest idea how you'd do that.

I haven't got a scsi cd drive. I've got a scsi card but no cd drive. I think it's got a floppy controller on it though. will see later.
