I have installed Windows 2000 server but I cannot configure Active Directory as it gives the following error 'Active Directory Installation failed. The network location cannot be reached'.

Any suggestions??

Configure a static ip address such as 192.168.0.1 and
check your subnet mask. It should be 255.255.255.0 . Then, try to install Active Directory again. Good Luck!!

Active directory requires other services like DNS. I thought the AD wizard told you what to install, but try installing DNS first. Can't use AD with out it.
