I am a newbie installing a Norstar 616 (dr5 with ds) and the Startalk Flash system. I have the 616 system running fine and it is now time to install the Voicemail system.

The instructions I have seen said it takes 1 station port, but the Flash 2 system has 2 rj11 jacks? I am confused where to attach the 2 jacks. Do I use 1 station port and connect both cables to the same port, or does it use 2 station ports?

I am sorry if the verbage is confusing. I have only learned how to install this system by reading and am not an expert.

thanx

2 jacks are for 4 channels (2 per jack/pair).
The flash has a model that snaps into the bottom and has a black #4 on it.
If yours does not have the 4 but rather a dummy plate then your 2 channel (1 jack/pair).

I forgot to mention the module is called a 4 channel upgrade.
If you pop the module in then hook up the 2nd jack and you will have 4 users into vmail at same time and bumps 24 mailboxes to 48. etc.

To elaborate, the norstars use a b1 and a b2 channel on each pair. They mux.

You probably won't have to concern yourself with the functionality, except as curly is indicating- with vm (and a few other applications, not widely used).

Thanks for the response at the speed of Light!!

I see. Mine is just a "cover" over the bottom instead of having a 4 printed on it. So I will just use the first jack. And if I ever need to upgrade I will add the upgrade and wire the 2nd jack to another station port?

Thanks for all the help
Eric
