I have a Pentium 4 running Windows XP and need to install SQL Server 2000 on it to use it as a testing platform for applications prior to installing them on our production SQL 2000 Server. This would require that both SQL Server 2000 and SQL Client 2000 reside on my test machine. What software do I need to do this? I currently have CD's for SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition and SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition. Do I need to install both of them or just one (which one)?

Thanks,

Gerry Goldberg

Beeing a WIndows XP system you can install just Personal Edition.
I don't understant what are you saying installing both?
The difference between them is just in some facilities of the SQL server (eg: transactional replication).
If you think that one of them is client and th eother server,... then is not like this.
Personal or Standard they are SQL server package. This packages contains of course client tools too, so you don't need another package for this. Gia Betiu
