Hi All,

I need to permanently connect an external HP DLT4000D (scsi2 F/W differential) tape drive to the inbuilt external wide/ultra3 SCSI port on a P650 but the system will not detect this drive (either via cfgmgr or reboot). If I temporarily connect this tape drive to a wide/ultra-20 adapter on the same P650 all is OK. Does scsi3 support older scsi devices? Cable used is 68 pin centronics to 68 pin honda.

Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

As we have and still do mix such devices I see no reason why this wouldn't work. The caution I mention is the pay attention to cable type and termination. Either try to purchase a correctly adapted cable (scsi3<--->scsi2) and that the tape device is properly terminated preferably with an active (powered) terminator. Also, be absolutely shure there are NO address conflicts.

Good luck.

B
