Hi Guys

I'm a little bit new to Suse & RPM's, although fairly well versed on other flavours of Unix and Samba generally, trying to install a Linux Suse Samba RPM, just a little unclear on these damn dependencies which it requires to install ... using the command..

rpm --install samb????.rpm

It reports dependency errors, however the packages it's complaining i'm fairly sure are already installed, i'm obviously missing an install flag somewhere but unclear where?

Please help.

Thanks.
JD.

Use yast or yast2 (depending on your version of SuSE) for the install. It's a graphical package manager for SuSE, and has an option to automatically check dependencies, and include dependent packages in the install. From a desktop, like KDE, you'll get a full windowed interface that's simple to use. Launched from a shell it will give you a fairly self-explanitory ncurses interface.
