I am new to Python, so this may be a simple stupid question. I want to install on a laptop that has a 32 bit operating system and a 64 bit processor. Do I install the 32 bit or 64 bit version? I'm thinking 64 bit, but I want to make sure.

Thanks!

If you have a 32-bit OS, it would be better to install 32-bit. Basically install the same type as your OS.

Also, while you are at it, prefer Python3 to Python2.

Are you using it for datascience stuff - if you are, install Anaconda3. That will install python and most of what you need: numpy, scipy, R and a whole load of packages.

Thank you very much![bigsmile]

It's likely that your operating system won't even run 64-bit apps.

Just be aware that my Anaconda (64-bit) installation topped out at 6 GB
