Hi guys,
This may sound a little odd, but I have a user who has a virtual machine (a Terminal Server) somewhere in the organization. As part of some testing he requires MS Excel 2000 to be loaded onto the TS. Problem is that no one knows where the machine is physically located. Im sure via some detective work I could find the machine. But I need to know how to load Office remotely via a terminal services session. I have admin rights to the machine and I have the installation software on a network share.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

(Optional) - Create a folder on the TS called - MSoff2k - or something (or use your existing network share). Copy the MSOffice CD there.

(Required) Copy the TermSrvr.mst file from the MS Office Resource kit to somewhere like c:\termsrvr.mst on the TS...

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Click Install, and then click Next.
Click Browse.
In the root folder of Office Disc 1, click to select Setup.exe, and then click OK.

Setup.exe is added to the Command line for installation program box.
In the Command line for installation program box, append the following parameter after Setup.exe, separated by a space:
TRANSFORMS="path:\TermSrvr.mst"

where path is the location of the .mst file. This command identifies the Terminal Server transform to use during installation.
Click Next.
In the Change User Options dialog box, select All users begin with common application settings, and then click Next.
Type your customer information, and then click Next.
Accept the End User License Agreement, and then click Next.
Click Install Now.
When prompted, restart the computer and log back on to Windows as the same user, to allow Office 2000 Setup to complete successfully.

Thanks DaShard, followed your instructions and they worked perfectly. As such I have nominated your post as an expert post. Thankyou so much.

I've been there a few times.

I copied most of the answer from teknet. It's not the easiest one to find!

DaShard - that's a really useful thing to know but will be lost amongst the threads soon. Would you make an FAQ of it in here please?

I'll then vote on it for you :)
