Installing NW 5.1 SBS - java page fault error

We bought a Dell 600SC server with 512 MB SDRAM, a LSI ATA raid 5 controller and an adaptec 39160 scsi adapter for the tape drive.

I have encountered the following problem.
when it starts the graphical part of the (advanced) installation the following happens at the system console:

Loading module SYMCJIT.NLM
java: page fault occurred while executing class com.application.install.Setup

State of registers at Exception:
EIP=CFD593B4, EFLAGS=14202, ........etc.
Process name=Java Main(CF088540)

Server 5.0-830 (nmID=2000A) Short term memory allocator is out of memory. 1 attempts to get more memory failed

Class com.application.install.Setup exited with status -5

Can anybody help please

Hi,

It sounds as though you have bad memory in the server. The Java portion of the install is memory intensive. Check out the link below, it's not the same but close:

Thanks for the response.
I was away for 2 days so my response is a bit late.

It could be that you're right. I'll try to install NW 5.1 (not SBS) which I have lying around somewhere and if that doesn't work I'll try Linux. This should tell me if it really is a hardware error.
