just wondering if it's possible to install a 5.1 UPGRADE version on a new "blank" server (with DOS installed of course) without having a previous netware OS installed. i would like to try a clean (or "new server"
install of 5.1 on the new server rather than a migration. If this is possbile, what are some of the pitfalls of this way of installing. (i'm basing this idea on how one can clean install Win9.x upgrade without having a previous version installed, just need a "disk 1", or an .ini file.
currently have a 3.11 netware file server running on an Pentium 60 (IDE/coax network) to 2 old workstations (a x386, P60). The 5.1 upgrade install will be on a new server class pIII 800 (SCSI/Ethernet), with 2 Win98 workstations. (the new server/software hasn't come in yet, so haven't been able to experiment with this.)
The current data on the old server is about 120MB worth of files. There about 5 users to set up profiles for. With this few users and data, that's why I considered trying to install clean, rather than migrate across-the-wire. Plus, the old server/workstations will be "retired" after this upgrade.
