Hi:

I am just about to join the lucky band of people supporting 2.6 on Windows ME.

But I have a basic and, perhaps, silly problem. We have just received new PC's with ME. I need to install FoxPro 2.6 to support some clients. However, I can't get setup to start from the first installation disk. Am I missing something basic?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

1. WHY DONT YOU TRY
MYCOMPUTER -> A: -> SETUP.EXE
OR
START -> run-> a:sETUP <ENTER>

2. ANOTHER MATTER, IF YOU ARE USING FP2.6 IN WINME

FPW26 is was designed in the Win3.1 days before MicroSoft released Win95 and their disaster of common shared DLL's, To install FPW26 on a Windows ME computer simply copy the FPW directory for a working computer across the network to the WinME Computers Hard Drive. Then go make an icon on the desktop to start it up with the parameters you need. Or make a menu selection from the Start Button. If you want the file types logged in the registry, Open each file extention tpye with WinExplorer and associate it to FPW. Or if you know how to add a file type in WinExplorer, you can do it there also.

What I have done is burn a CD of a working FPW directory with all the patches. Then I just copy the files from the CD in Windows Explorer. Just remember your licensing laws and do not over install FPW26. David W. Grewe

Thank you, folks.

I already tried the setup suggested by ramani but was unsuccessful. Dave's suggestion sort of works.

When I start foxpro I get the dreaded "An Error Has In Your Program" message. When I choose "IGNORE", Foxpro starts up OK. Any ideas?

I will, of course, be deleting Foxpro on our old machines once all data has been moved and applictions tested.

Thanks again to you both.

I did the smart thing and performed a search to find the downloads to fix my error message problem.

Glad it worked out for you Chris. Guess the defination of the word ASSUME worked again ASSUME = makes a ASS of U and ME.

I assumed you had a copy of FPW2.6a with all the patches on the old computer. David W. Grewe
