hi guys

I am running a test environment. this consists of an empty root domain which will be left alone for future growth and the child domain will be the working domain.

i want exchange 2003 to be installed in the child domain.

do i run forest prep and domain prep in the root domain even though exchange will not be installed in that domain and then after the schema is updated throughout the forest, install exchange on the child domain?

any help gratefully received.

thanks

Forestprep - root
Domainprep - both

" In the domain where the schema master resides, run Exchange 2003 ForestPrep in your Active Directory forest. By default, the schema master runs on the first Windows-based domain controller that is installed in a forest. "

"...deployment of Exchange 2000 and Exchange Server 2003 in your forest by running Setup with the /DomainPrep option in each domain, including the domain where you ran ForestPrep to add further Exchange-specific configuration information to Active Directory."
