Hi all im after a bit of advise.

Im about to install Crystal Reports 8.5 onto a server that is going to be accessed using Terminal Services. I know when I installed Microsoft Office to run through Terminal Services I had to install it differently. Does anyone know if there is anything different with the installation process of Crystal Reports when it is going to be run via a Windows 2000 Terminal Services Environment?

Thanks in advance for any advise

The only extra step I had to take when installing Crystal in a WTS\Citrix environment was to copy all Crystal DLLs from the Crystal folder nto the SYSTEM32 folder. (The Crystal folder is located in the WINDOWS or WINNT directory of your WTS installation . This is, of course, in addition to using the CONTROL PANEL --> ADD\REMOVE PROGRAMS option so that the application is installed "for all users".

NOTE: I am using Crystal 7, not 8.5.

Another approach would be to change the access rights to the winnt (or wtsrv) \crystal folder to allow FULL access to all users

This would also be the case for the Crystal Reports folder tree in program files.

Copying to the system32 folder will work, but if you ever plan on running CR updates, they will not likely get updated as the updates will more than likley not search outside expected folders.

Also, TS\Citrix has never been officially supported and may actually constitute a license breach. If you have a single user license. This allows you to install to one machine. A 5 user = 5 installs and so forth.

There is also an MDAC requriement.

Not that I want to be the police, but it is worth mentioning.

Check out the following thread regarding CR not being able to export in a terminal services environment. I've personally run into this situation, which was caused by running the install while the Win2K server was in 'application mode'.

Mas90 on Windows XP gives me ERROR 12, when trying to print bills. Says either DLL is missing, wrong version or no rights. Any idea? Only this workstation is giving me troubles, others are running Windows 98
