I've got a Windows XP/SP2 box that I'm trying to install an A1000 printer on. Fails to install the printer. Here's what I'v tried:

1. Windows' detects new hardware, go through setup and direct it to downloaded driver - fails
2. Windows detects new hardware, go through setup and direct it to drivers on original cd - fail
3. Run setup manually from CD - fails

The fax portion seems to install with no problems, it's the printer portion that's messed up. It either never shows up in Control Panel/Printer or when it shows it simply does not print (set as default, not working offline, etc).

I've tried multiple installs/uninstalls with no success; every combination I can think of.

Anyone have experience with this issue?

Is this a USB connected printer? If so, is the USB port OK? By the way, the fax operation is comepletely seperate - the fax will work even if the printer isn't installed.

It IS USB and I may have narrowed it to the port... but the actual port seems fine - it's also using a USB mouse and a USB keyboard, each of which works in the 4 various USB ports... and I've moved the printer cable to different ports... and tried a different USB cable.
