Hi,

I am trying to connect a Sun V880 server to our San using Emulex LP9802 HBAs. After adding the cards to the server it wouldn't reboot (no drivers had been installed at this point) and we had no console. When I took the HBAs back out the console came back.

I am going to update the OBP to the latest patch, apply a patch to update the fibre-channel backplane firmware. Hopefully this will work.

Just wondered if anyone had experienced the same problem?
Maybe the V880 doesn't like having the Emulex card and the graphics card adjacent to each other?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
SuperJan

is the Emulex Card supported in a Sun V880 by Emulex? Check this first or call Emulex or Sun support to check this...

Thanks Franz....

The HBAs were purchased for a SunFire 280R server, but were not required. I assumed they would be compatible.

I will check with Sun first.

Thanks again
Janis

I am just guessing, but if you are facing problems like this...

I think you'll find that SUN don't support the emulex (although it should work fine). I seem to recall that SUN support the JNI HBA.
