I just installed a new motherboard and had to re-install windows XP. I then installed the CD Drivers for the motherboard that came with it. I am having some problems with programs that ran before that won't now. I feel that there are old drivers that are causing me the problem. Is the a place in the registry that I can delete all the old dirvers and install the new boards drivers without having to reload all my programs?

How did you reinstall XP? Did you just install it over your old copy or did you format and do a fresh install?

I just re-installed it over the previous XP install. I did not want to have to reload all my software and settings again.
Thanks for the reply.

When you install a program, it may change some of the files installed by Windows. If you reinstall Windows, the original files will be created again. Somtimes programs will not function correctly unless they have their version of the file in place. ex. settings. Try reinstalling those programs again without uninstalling them. That will save some of your settings and re-create the files needed to function. Installing over a previous installation is kind of a "dirty" install. It works and sometimes not. What programs are you having trouble with? I know some programs that when you uninstall them, all the settings are not removed. So, if you ever installed it again, the settings will still be there. This is not true for every program though.

You might want to run Windows Update and get the latest Microsoft Certified Drivers.
I wouldn't advise hacking the registry for the older drivers unless you familiar and comfortable with playing with regedit. Remember to back it up first. Jordan MCP, A+
