Hi.

I would like to install 2000 server on my 2000pro machine. I read the help file and it answered some questions, but I'm still not sure how to proceed. I've learned to create a dual boot that it's just a matter of configuration in the control panel, however I don't know if I do that before or after installing 2000server. Another thing, it recommends that the computer have more than one volume...I have four partitions on my drive. Is that enough? Or,is volume and partition different?. Anyhow, can someone offer a step-by-step procedure or point me to one?

Much appreciated,
DanH

With 4 partitions on your hard drive, you're ready to go. Just boot from the win2k server cd and follow the prompts. Make sure the partition in which you install server is different from that of 2k pro. The installation will create the dual boot and start-up menu for you.

Hi

I succeeded in installing 2k server, however in the EVENT FINDER I have a bunch of errors. Such as DHCP, FTP, etc. I remember during installation it asked for a static IP, I didn't give one, because my router operates off a dynamic IP. Anyhow, I don't know what to do. Should I reinstall completely, or just the IIS? Any suggestions?

Thanks a million,
DanH

You're fine. If you don't intend to install DHCP or host an FTP server, stop the services and set their start to manual. Ohter errors will have to be handled on a case by case basis but overall I think you're ok and no need to reinstall.
