Hello folks-
I was searching around the news group but did nto really find a definitive answer. also snooped around support.microsoft.com but perhaps did not use the right keywords.
I install Windows XP, log in as administrator and install IIS 5.1. I surf to and everything seems fine (I changed the port in the IIS MMC). But if I add a directory with just an index.htm web page within and surf to itfor example
I get
HTTP 403.1 Forbidden: Execute Access Forbidden
You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed.
I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the administrator has rights to view the contents of as well as IUSR_(servername). So what permissions need to be set? in NTFS? in the User Manager? Any help, online docs, links advice in solving this issue is appreciated.
cheers
Edward
