Installation points with MAP-D board?

We are installing a MAP-D board next week in order to interface a NICE recording system.

Does anyone have any pointers as to what I should watch for; and/or any horror stories? I just want to make sure that my switch doesn't crash during the process.

Thanks in advance!

I have put in three MAP-D boards on different G3r switches and have never had a PBX problem because of their installation. Just make sure the person installing the card and cable on the back is grounded properly. I know someone who took an entire Multi-Carrier Cabinet (MCC) down because they were not grounded.

If you are installing the three-slot MAP-D (TN801B?) in an MCC it should be in slots 17-19 in Carrier "A" for proper ventilation. It can be a pain to re-arrange cards if you have something in 17-19. I think there is a newer version that does not have that limitation.

Mine all have dial access so you'll have to account for the modem, analog line, etc. Be careful because if you ordered this from Avaya they will charge you about $200 for a 33.6K Sportster modem. I have not checked 33.6 modem prices lately, but you could probably buy quite a few for $200.

I am sure they have already talked to you about Network info they will need to set it up initially (IP Address, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, etc.)

Overall, they are relatively easy to deal with.

Make sure to connect the cable's to the right slots on the back BEFORE you put in the MAP-D (just like with a DEFINITY AUDIX) Please let me know if the information that was provided is helpfull.

Make sure the cable assembly on the back of the carrier is installed BEFORE sliding the card in. There are some grounding issues which can damage the board without the connector in place. -CL

Thanks for all of your input!

Avaya installed the MAP-D today -- Denver is initializing tonight sometime & we are connecting it to the T-Server on Wednesday.

ctr999 -- F.Y.I.: Due to our system being redundant and almost out of port slots, we ended up installing the MAP-D on the D carrier, slots 00 (service) - 02. Of course, Denver wanted the MAP-D in slots 18 - 20 (as per old habit), but I was unwilling to kill long enough to move three P.R.I. circiuts when I had the other slots available.

Thanks again!
