Greetings,

(I tried finding the answer to my problem in existing threads, but have thus far come up empty.)

I've received the following error during my installation, but I don't know enough about it to troubleshoot effectively. Can anyone help make light of this error message?

This is from the ST6UNST.000 file. The following lines are at the end of the file.
Code:
ACTION: DllSelfRegister: "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\MSCOMCT2.OCX"

*** ERROR: The file 'C:\DOCUME~1\Wbenson\LOCALS~1\Temp\msftqws.pdw\$(DLLSelfRegisterEx)' could not be registered because it was not found.
*** ERROR: (User Responded with 'OK')

For what its worth, I'm using VB6 (SP5) on Windows2000 Pro.

I am at a loss here and would greatly appreciate anyone's input:)

I've had this problem myself... I think it is a bug in the PDW.

Open the setup.lst file in notepad, then look for the line that should look something like this:

File4=@msftqws.pdw,$(WinSysPath),$(DLLSelfRegisterEx),$(Shared),6/23/98 11:00:00 PM,187712,6.0.81.69

and change the "$(DLLSelfRegisterEx)"

to "$(DLLSelfRegister)"

Hi guys

As I'm sure you've seen I came up with the same problem. Only thing is: there is no line reading File4=@msftqws.pdw,$(WinSysPath),$(DLLSelfRegisterEx),$(Shared),6/23/98 11:00:00 PM,187712,6.0.81.69 in my setup.lst file :-(

The only place it references this wretched msftqws.pdw file is in the top section where it says:
[Bootstrap]
SetupTitle=Install
SetupText=Copying Files, please stand by.
CabFile=TimeMa1.CAB
Spawn=Setup1.exe
Uninstal=st6unst.exe
TmpDir=msftqws.pdw
Cabs=4

Help me paleese!! This wretched thing is driving me up the wall!! Should I just bite the bullet and reinstall VB?

Thanks

I have also gone mad on a similar issue. I found this link useful:
especialy the section titled:
"Test for Setup Files Left on System"

You can get errors if you keep re-installing the program without uninstalling it properly first.

Can anyone help me with my problem? I finaly got my setup to run but it fails because:

"An error occurred trying to copy 'C:\WINNT\ST6UNST.000' to the application directory"

Why?

Regards, Eric
