I have a SUS server and this works great but know that all our windows XP machines have SP2 i want to make use of the option install updates and shutdown. Which is a option in SP2 but none of my machines gets this option when they shutdown.

I allready checked the group policy option and they are as follow

Windows Components/Windows Updatehide
Policy Setting
Automatic Updates detection frequency Enabled
Check for updates at the following
interval (hours): 14

Policy Setting
Configure Automatic Updates Enabled
Configure automatic updating: 3 - Auto download and notify for install
The following settings are only required
and applicable if 4 is selected.
Scheduled install day: 0 - Every day
Scheduled install time: 03:00

Policy Setting
Do not display 'Install Updates and Shut Down' option in Shut Down Windows dialog box Disabled
No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations Enabled
Reschedule Automatic Updates scheduled installations Enabled
Wait after system
startup (minutes): 4

Policy Setting
Specify intranet Microsoft update service location Enabled
Set the intranet update service for detecting updates: Set the intranet statistics server:

I think you need WSUS (the newer version of SUS) to do this.

Thanks,
Andrew

no i don't think so it is a policy setting because some computers can do it.

WSUS is just the server with the updates it doesn't control things like workstation sort of update.
