I'm not a DBA. That said, here we go-
I have SQL2000 running on a Win2K Advanced Cluster, two nodes, one is active, the other idle awaiting failover.
I need to install SQL SP3 on the cluster and I have looked over the KB articles related to it; however, some of it is greek to me. Here is what I understand from what I've read:
1 backup (hey, even I knew that)
2 shut down any applications that use the DB or monitor it (such as HP OV), even disconnect it from the network if feasable.
3 update the active node of the cluster.
4 verify all is working, then fail over and update the 2nd node of the cluster.
Anything I'm missing here? We are updating due to the slammer worm- we avoided problems due to our fw configuration, but this ought to be done regardless.
thanks
