I just did a fresh install of W2k Professional. When I try to install Publisher, I get the following error:
Error 1993 - Cannot update one or more protected Windows files. I am attempting to install in a non-standard folder, D:\Apps\Publisher. I am logged on as Administrator, Gave "Full Control" to Administrator and System on darn near every folder and still get the same error. Anyone have any ideas? I have installed this dozens of times and haven't run into this one before. Does Publisher keep an install file anywhere?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Yowza,
I suspect your problems lies with your attempt to install Publisher on your D drive. I googled "Update protected Windows files" and here's an article that explains your problem:
Sorry the link is so huge. I hope this helps.

Thanks horqua. Interesting article. I was finally able to install it accepting the default settings.
