Install Cyrillic Font in Oracle 1

Could anybody give me some assistance on how to install Cyrillic fonts in oracle.

What do you mean by "install font"? Oracle database doesn't use any font at all. Do you have a problem with some tool?

I have been set a task where our Russian clients can input data into the database with cyrillic fonts. I feel that is something where I have to install a database with a character set that supports the cyrillic fonts. I have also checked to see if by chaning the NLS_LANG settings to CL8MSWIN1251 or ISO8859P5

Oracle doesn't use FONTS to store data. Your database as well as client software should support an appropriate character set (the common for Russian are CL8MSWIN1251 for Windows and RU8PC866 or CL8ISO8859P5 on Unix).

It is the first time I have come across this character set. If I set up the character set does this mean that the existing data would be corrupted by using cryllic.

Normally charset is selected during database creation, but the latest releases allow to change it (with some restrictions). The common way is to export database, recreate it with new charset and then import data. Depending on your original charset you may loose some data (nls-specific characters) or not. In any case you will be notified by export/import about charset conversions.
BTW, what database character set and what client software you're using?

The character set will be CL8MSWIN1251 installed on solaris 5.8 and the clients will be windows 2000/98 etc.
