Morning All!

I'm trying to setup BrightStor v9 for Windows, onto my desktop PC, so I can view and configure backup jobs remotely.
Is this possible? I've looked on the CA website, but cannot find any info.

My PC runs XP SP2, and the network is all WY2K.

Thanks.

Sure, just do a Custom install and then just select the Manager.

Cheers DavidMichel.

I've done this, but am unable to authenticate to any of our servers. It only picks up my local machine name. If I try and connect to another server, it asks for caroot password. I enter the password valid for caroot on our servers, but no joy. As it is a new local install, would i need to enter the defualt caroot password and then change it to match up with the server version. If so, where can i find this out, as I have no info on this product, and Computer Assoc. website does not have the answer (that i can find!).

Cheers!

ahh I forgot that 9.0 had that caroot stuff.

This is not my strong area but I think the problem is that the cadomain on the server needs to have the user from the remote system added to it.

When you ran the install did it give you the option of joining a CA domain?

If not it might be worth trying a full install. The reasoning is that if it joins the domain then the user will automatically be added.

On the other hand if you are not afraid of command line there is authsetup, ca_auth, and caauthd.

I'll create a faq on it.

Cheers for this Davidmichel - I will try the full install and see what happens.
I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks Again!
