I plan on installing a NIC that I bought for my PIX firewall. After I install the NIC and turn the PIX back on, is there any additional steps I need to take to get the PIX running again, or will it run through it's normal config and just operate as normal until I'm ready to configure the card as a DMZ?

Thanks.

This should be in the PIX Firewall forum, but you can look on Cisco.com for a hardware installation guide for your particular NIC.

There is one thing that I learned the hard way. Unlike in Cisco routers, the interfaces on the pix can move. For example, if you have a card in slot 0 and slot 1 - from the bottom, they were interfaces e2 and e3. Now you put a new 4 port card in above it, and e2&3 move to that card, along with 4&5. Now, what was 2&3 becomes 6&7. I worked with Cisco quite a while on that one to figure out why my e2&3 weren't working. I finally figured it out on my own. It seems obvious now, but it took me a while, so I thought I'd save you the pain - just in case.
