Greetings,
New to Dreamweaver, "Help" topics are not too helpful. What is the best way to insert an avi file into a layout. I have inserted the file but when I acitvate the browser, the windows media player shows up on the page. I am trying to make the file play by itself without being "cased" within the player.
Thanks,
the rookie kelly

But, when you insert a avi file, you should get a console = true or false.

Sorry, I haven't "embeded" and avi file since that was #1 thing that drove away people.
I only offer movie files as downloads.

have you tried inserting a flash movie from the objects panel and changing the file name and extension there?

There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it over!

WizyWig, I am new to this. Mabe the question should be.. I have modeled an item in solidworks and it (solidworks) only saves annimations as AVI files. What is the best way to allow my rotating model (in avi format) to be present on the web page? And yes, I do get a console.

Paperbaghead, I like your suggestion, sounds like the thing to do.

Pixelchik, I will check out the link and see what info i can get.

Any more suggestions are very much welcomed.

Thanks to you all for your help.

Why not save it as a zip file for someone to download? personally, i do not like to visit websites that force me to view a movie in the browser.

Kknudsen,
Another option is to convert your animation (avi) to a .swf (FLASH) format. That way you can easily (via Dreamweaver) insert that into your page. You can use Wildform's Flix Lite to encode your video (avi) to Flash.

Thanks for the replys,
I am having a company logo rotate, so its not really a movie in the sense that its for viewing or to tell a story, it is more for apperance.

I found a program that convers avi to swf, works pretty good.

Thanks again for all the input.
